JJBA x Music: BruAbba: "Watching Me Fall" by The Cure
No poetic thoughts from me here, just bringing you an absolutely perfect romantic (with just the right amount of meaningful spice also) BruAbba song (Abbacchio POV) that's also perfect because it's goth rock.
Okay, one poetic thought: The way the song starts with the phrase "watching me fall" with the meaning of decay in one's life. And then it changes to "watching me fall" as in, falling in love or falling into bed with this person. And then, my god, the way the music just explodes with ecstasy during the chorus when the lyrics imply very clearly that they're, no, not having sex, but making love. ("Her hair is black, the bed is white.")
Lyrics that stood out to me in this context:
I've been watching me fall,
For it seems like years.
Watching me grow small,
I watch me disappear.
Slipping on out my ordinary world,
Out my ordinary eyes.
Slipping out the ordinary me,
Into someone else's life, into someone else's life.
I've been drifting around for hours.
I'm lost, and I'm tired.
When a whisper in my ear, insatiable, breathes,
“Why don't you follow me inside?”
Her hair is black, the bed is white,
And the night is always young,
Is always young, always young.
The night is always young.
She holds out her hands,
And I follow her down to my knees.
